Here is another new oil painting, it is 9'x 12' I painted it from a photo I took. As I try to continue writing on this blog, ( that I hope maybe someone reads!) I like painting " white " paintings once in a while. It forces you to see and paint the colors that are in the shadows. There is so much color every where, most people do not see it. Artists are trained to see color, instead of just the local color of an object. We try to see the colors that are really there. You might think it is ridiculous! but color is there. Another note, I have a tip on cleaning brushes, after you are done painting for the day or you want to get a certain color out of your brush, (this is if you are painting with oils or acrylics) wipe most of the paint off your brush with a rag or paper towel, then if you are using oil paint, dip your brush into paint thinner, then continue to wipe the excess paint off your brush and then go to the sink and use soap and warm water, swirl it in the palm of your hand until the soap gets to be the color of the paint in your brush, rinse it and repeat until the brush is clean. Let it dry on a flat surface. When the brush is totally dry then you can stand it on it's heal end. NEVER stand a brush on the brush end in water or in anything else. it will ruin it. the glue will get soft and then dry out and the ferrule will get loose and fall off the handle. Do the same with the acrylic paint except just use warm water.
I hope this helps a little. If anyone does read this blog let me know I would appreciate it. Have a productive day, and keep painting!!
